About
I believe education works best when it is designed around the people in it. Understanding grows in the spaces between us: in conversation, in disagreement, in the moment one idea meets another. My work is to design learning that makes room for those connections, and for the creativity that comes from them.
Approach
My thinking draws on complexity theory, philosophy, and my teaching in interdisciplinary classrooms. Complex systems show us that the most important things are rarely controlled; they emerge from relationships. Learning is no different. Rather than treating knowledge as something to be captured and transferred, I design for the conditions in which people connect, integrate ideas across boundaries, and create something none of them could have made alone.
Beyond the work
I am also a pianist and composer, and an (almost) certified therapeutic musician who plays for people in hospice and end-of-life care. Jazz taught me that structure and freedom are not opposites. Playing at the bedside taught me how much can pass between people without words. Both shape how I think about learning.
